Collection: Scarves & Shawls

Scarves, shawls and stoles handmade by artisans in India, with colors and designs chosen by us at Malini. Every piece is hand printed, hand dyed or hand woven: that is why two scarves of the same style are never identical.

Hand block printed wool

Soft wool scarves printed with hand-carved wooden blocks (block print): paisley, floral and geometric motifs, pressed onto the fabric one at a time. They measure about 70 x 180 cm and keep you warm without weighing you down, from autumn to spring.

Wool and silk

In the tie-dye shawls (85% wool and 15% silk) the color is applied by hand, tying the fabric before dyeing; other wool and silk shawls are hand screen printed with paisley motifs. In the Madras check scarves (90% wool and 10% silk) the silk adds softness and a subtle sheen. They are the right choice if pure wool feels too rough to you.

Ahimsa silk, the peace silk

The Eri silk stoles and Tussar silk shawls come from cocoons collected only after the moth has left: that is why it is called peace silk (read its story). Eri silk, from Assam, is soft and warm, almost cotton-like. Tussar is a wild silk with a natural golden color and a rougher texture full of character. Every stole is hand spun, hand woven and hand printed, and is one of a kind.

Hand dyed silk chiffon

Square silk chiffon scarves, very light and sheer, hand dyed in a single color: tie them around your neck, in your hair or on your bag.

For travel and in-between seasons

The large wool and cotton shawls, which also work as a small blanket on a plane, the hand woven cotton check scarf and the striped viscose stole: light and easy to wear.
