Green zigzags on a cream ground, alternating with fine stripes, with a black border and a bright green band at the ends. Fresh and graphic, it is the right stole for anyone who loves green. Eri silk comes from Assam, in northeast India: the cocoon stays open and the moth flies out on its own, which is why it is called Ahimsa silk, the silk of non violence. The fibers are hand spun, woven on a hand loom, and the design is hand printed with carved wooden blocks, using azo free colors. The result is a soft, warm silk with a gentle sheen. We work directly with the artisans in India, with no middlemen, and visit their workshops in person.
