Stole in 100% Eri Ahimsa silk, hand spun, hand woven and hand block printed: burgundy ground, black mandalas, beige and black triangles, blue and yellow stripes. Size 55 x 190 cm (22 x 75 in), with knotted fringes.
Deep burgundy with large black mandalas printed almost tone on tone, a border of beige and black triangles and blue and yellow stripes at the ends. Warm and elegant, perfect for autumn. Eri silk comes from Assam, in northeast India: the cocoon stays open and the moth flies out on its own, which is why it is called Ahimsa silk, the silk of non violence. The fibers are hand spun, woven on a hand loom, and the design is hand printed with carved wooden blocks, using azo free colors. The result is a soft, warm silk with a gentle sheen. We work directly with the artisans in India, with no middlemen, and visit their workshops in person.
