Stole in 100% Eri Ahimsa silk, hand spun, hand woven and hand block printed: ivory pinstriped ground, burgundy border, black polka dots, diamond band. Size 55 x 190 cm (22 x 75 in), with knotted fringes.
An ivory ground with fine pinstripes, a burgundy border and, at the ends, a band of black polka dots and a band of diamonds. Understated and refined, it pairs easily with black, gray and camel. Eri silk comes from Assam, in northeast India: the cocoon stays open and the moth flies out on its own, which is why it is called Ahimsa silk, the silk of non violence. The fibers are hand spun, woven on a hand loom, and the design is hand printed with carved wooden blocks, using azo free colors. The result is a soft, warm silk with a gentle sheen. We work directly with the artisans in India, with no middlemen, and visit their workshops in person.
