Square scarf in 100% silk chiffon, hand dyed with leheriya tie & dye: petrol blue, purple and black wave stripes on an orange ground. Size 130 x 130 cm (51 x 51 in).

An orange as warm as the earth of Rajasthan, crossed by darker wave stripes in petrol blue, purple and black that make it bold and elegant. Leheriya comes from the Hindi word lahar, wave: it is a traditional Rajasthani technique in which the fabric is rolled diagonally, tied at regular intervals and dipped in dye. Where the ties are tight the color cannot reach, and when they are undone the wave stripes appear; for every extra color the fabric is tied and dyed again, with azo free dyes. It looks great with denim, white and black, and brings light to the face in the in-between seasons too. We work directly with the artisans in India, with no middlemen, and visit their workshops in person.
